Len and Kevin,
It was me that increased the size of my rules and kill file. I removed the
lines from each file, set WhatsUp Gold back to ICMP and have not had a
problem since. Perhaps I did it wrong because the files were not sorted. One
guy posted a 1,400 line kill file on here recently and said it was working
for him. It was sorted alphabetically, mine wasn't. Don't know if that is a
necessity or not.
In any event, things seemed to have returned to normal after I removed 120
lines from the kill file and rules.ima.
Daniel also hit the nail on the head about "why" WhatsUp was reporting as it
was. My recommendation is to make sure you have the memory (both RAM and
Virtual - RAM is better) to process SMTP, Web Messaging and POP3 (as well as
IMAP) before you throw a lot of rules to process. Do it slowly, and
correctly. This stuff all works if it's done right. Amazing that it works at
all.
