Jonathan,

Interesting set of symptoms. I've not heard of a problem like this,
so I'm afraid I do not have any answers, but I do have some questions.

Is the sender, sending to a particular user? Does that user have a
forward on the account? Is there an alias of the same name as the
user or the forward?

Can you show us both the Q and D files? Or is there just the .pdf?

Those are 'unusual' names for any Queue related file! I can see
where a .pdf might be in the \spool (an attachment for an email),
but why would IMail think it was to use that file as a control file?
Very strange!

Have you checked and defragged the HD recently? Maybe a
'cross-linked' file? Are you using FAT or NTFS?

Yes, I can see that the only solution would be to get rid of these
files, as they are not what IMail expects! Not surprised the Modem
is not doing as it should, it has no info to use.

Are you using the Fax with Dynamic Dialing, or does each alias
having its own phone number?

No promises, but if we keep looking, we might find some other clues!

Do you see any performance problems with IMail or the computer when
this happens? I'm not expecting any, but open Task Manager for a
while, observing 'normal' CPU util, general Memory usage and
programs/processes running. When the problem occurs, is anything
unusual?
