I have Imail 6.0x running on a few POP3
servers. I've had a few nagging issues that I haven't been able to
solve:
1. One of the POP3 boxes has Imail 6.04
running on NT Server 4.0 sp6a. This box has roughly 12,000 users spanning
multiple domains. There are several class C blocks split between multiple
NIC cards. SMTP has been crashing with a Dr. Watson error. This Dr.
Watson error/crash happens multiple times a day - in the range of 50 to
100. The service restarts itself. If the box is left alone for a few
hours - I'll come by and see 10 or 12 Dr. Watson errors on the screen.
This box is NOT running Intel NIC cards. The hardware is brand new.
This box supported upwards of 20,000 users at one time without the Dr. Watson
errors. This box has been upgraded from 6.03 to 6.04 - the Dr. Watson
incidents continue. Imail is the only non-Microsoft software installed on
the box. This box is a quad-Intel Xeon 550 with 1 gig of RAM and
a large fibre channel RAID array - 3com 10/100 NIC cards. The Dr.
Watons reveal ZERO! The Dr. Watsons are always identical:
Exception: access violation. The RAM has been completely
replaced. The Dr. Watsons continue. The Imail log files also are of
no help - in fact, I can't find ANYTHING related to SMTP
stopping/starting. Final piece of information: This box is
configured to send ALL OUTBOUND SMTP MAIL to a dedicated SMTP server farm on the
LAN. Any ideas would be welcome and appreciated.
2. A different POP3 server. This box is
running Imail 6.04. This box is on the same LAN as the server above.
This box is a dual-Intel PIII 650 with 256 megs of RAM. 3com NIC
cards. This box runs a couple hundred domains and approximately 3,000
users. This box has a couple of issues. The first issue is with the
web interface. The web interface will sometimes (at completely random
times/days) pull up as a completely blank page. The web service shows as
STARTED. A quick stop/start of the service will normally bring the web
interface back up (with the page loading normally). This incident happens
a couple of times a day and doesn't seem to revolve around load (processor,
memory, or amount of users currently logged on). I haven't seen this come
up on the list lately. I've seen a PARTIAL load come up. Not blank
load. The web interface is completely standard/default - no templates, no
customizations, etc. Ideas?!
I think I'll go into other issues another
time! Thanks!
