this is the problem like scott said with outlook. If you are using outlook
"corporate or workgroup" and if your connection to the mail server not
present you will get this error. You should change to "internet only" then
you'll be fine.
Goto tools-->options--->Mail services---->reconfigure mail support--->select
internet only.

The message below comes from Outlook (or Exchange?). It is almost certainly
an Outlook problem. The wording of the error message implies that Outlook
doesn't have an SMTP server configured to use, but Microsoft error messages
often don't mean what you think they mean. In this case, it is possible for
example that the wrong SMTP server is listed.

that's not necessary as a first step.

no, you have to stop/start SMTP svc.
but as others have pointed out, it seems the err msg and pb is with
the email client, not Imail server.
