I use IMAP, but don't set it up for any of my users. Occasionally I get a
message from Outlook that the connection has been reset by the server. All
you have to do is ignore it, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't get a call
every time it happened to someone. Also, I've had to remove and recreate
the IMAP account in Outlook quite a few times. It seem to have something to
do with checking the mail in Web Messaging. I haven't figured out what
causes it, but Outlook will just stop acknowledging any new messages. In
web messaging they appear just fine. After recreating the account Outlook
works fine. IMAP also adds a step to cleaning up your mailboxes. You have
to mark messages for deletion and then purge them to actually remove them
from the server.

In short, I'd only give it to advanced users who can understand the
differences between IMAP and POP and will not be calling all the time for
help.

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMAP experience with iMail?

What has been everyone's experience with using IMAP with iMail? I'm
about to setup a few clients with IMAP mailboxes. All of my clients
now use POP3 mailboxes.

Any pros and cons?

Thanks,
Marion
