Finger is a protocol, just like HTTP, SMTP, FTP, telnet, etc.
If you want to use finger on the web, you need to write (or use) a finger client and
connect it to your web site somehow. Finger isn't used much anymore.
The other option (just as tricky) would be to transparently log the user on to their
account (using ASP?), and grab the # of new messages out of the HTML that is returned.
Not a fun task, but it ought to work.
