Hi Atle,
I have had problems with a mail client with IMail IMAP implementation,
however after going through the IMAP4 RFC 2060
(http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2060.txt) with some of their techs IMail was
found to be fully compliant. The developers of the particular client were a
bit confused about the way IMail reports some strings (there are two methods
highlighted in the RFC) however they admitted that it was correct, just odd.
I think the oddities stemmed from IMail's support for other character sets
and languages (from what I remember).
So if it helps I am now convinced that IMail IMAP4 implementation is RFC
compliant. If you are not then it may be worth using a packet sniffer and
going through the RFC. The message in your sample looked compliant to me.
Cheers

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMail / Imap / Pine
Dear Imail Forum readers,
Have anyone experience with using University of Washingtons excellent
character-based mailer Pine in combination with Imail as imap-server?
I get a lot of error messages in Pine using this combination...:
Many of them appear when I open the index of the INBOX-folder:
[>Unknown message property: ((NIL<]
[>Unknown message property: "ATLE"<]
[Junk at end of address list: NIL NIL NIL) (NIL NIL NIL) (...) ]
[Not an address: ) NIL NIL NIL "<242EEB3C73(...)@ffsvg02.farmersfield.com>]
[Junk at end of envelope (...) ]
I'm getting these messages by opening a mailbox either I use PC-Pine
4.21 or Unix-Pine 4.21.
Pine is known as one of the most strictly standardized mailers in the
unix-world, and it is therefore likely to believe that there could be
something wrong with the mailbox-format from the IMail-server...
Does anyone know what folder-format IMail is using?
I also get one message related to attachments, when I try to save messages
containing attachments to another folder.
[Message to save shrank! (#27: 2540383 --> 2789)]
..where the numbers are the message size with and without attachment
respectively. There is no difference related to the message size.
On many messages I also get this message:
[Message size does not match expected size, continuing...]
Some other Pine-users say that they've experienced this with MS Exchange
Servers, using 'estimated' message size instead of 'actual' message
size, but my ISP couldn't find anything about this in the IMail config.
My ISP runs IMail 5.08 6006-1 on an NT Server, reporting "220 X1 NT-ESMTP
Server" on port 25.
I'll appreciate any help!
Regards,
