>I have been told that my server may be getting used for spam.
who said what, exactly?
>How do I go about checking if this has happened.
what are you setting in the Imail SMTP security panel?
should be: relay for addresses + UNchech SMTP AUTH reporting. This
will block spammmers from hijacking your server as "open relay" to
relay spam through your server.
If spam is an inside job by one of your Imail account owners, there's
no technical setting to prevent that.
>What log files do I need to look at and what do i look for???
Spamming is a SMTP activity, so you must have Imail SMTP logging
activated. Ususally, the logging is to file: Imailhome\spool\sysMMDD.txt.
If you are an open relay, it's not too obvious by looking at the
logs. You will see maybe 1000's of "mail from:<sender@senderomain>"
and "rctp to:<recipient@recipientdomain>" every day.
"normally" the senderdomain will be an Imail domain, so if you have a
lot of non-Imail senderdomains, be suspcicious. But the spammer
could be spoofing of your Imail user's addresses.
Go take a look and let us know what you find.
