That isn't going to work. Or at least, not in the way you may be hoping
for.
There *is* a spool directory. However, there is no standard format for
sending E-mail by placing a file in a directory. The problem arises in the
SMTP envelope. Even if you place an E-mail complete with headers and body
into the spool directory, how does IMail know who you want to send it to?
It can't just look at the To: and Cc: fields, as there may be Bcc: fields as
well, which shouldn't be listed in the headers.
IMail works with 2 files; one is the standard E-mail (complete with headers
and body), the other has the SMTP envelope information in it. However,
since there is no standard for storing the SMTP envelope information, IMail
has their own unique file format. You would need to figure out exactly how
that second file would need to appear, which isn't going to be that easy.
