Jo,
Do you have plenty of free disk space for IMail to use? Have you checked
(Scandisk/CHKDSK /F) the HD system lately? Almost sounds like sectors of the
HD are getting crosslinked to other sectors.
Houskeeping the \spool can free up lots of space (if logging is enabled, log
files can be many MB/day!).
If that version has the 'Find Orphans' in IMail Administrator, this can help
you find deleted users whose files still remain on the system. Delete them
as needed.
