Here's one that tech support has been unable to answer for me. Perhaps
someone else out there has come across it.

I am running IMail 6.04 on a single windows 2000 advanced server (sp1).

We currently have only one IP address (on a T1) for about a dozen
virtual hosts and about 60-80 mailboxes.

We need to be able to mailbag for other static IP's not on our subnet. I
have found that "relay for addresses" is the option for this and yes, it
does work.

We also have laptop users dialing in from dynamically assigned IP's, and
need to prevent spamming. I have been told that the option for this is
"relay for local hosts or users". I believe local users is better and
seems to work.

My problem is getting them BOTH to work together on the same server.
Ipswitch claims that I can set the SMTP security to "relay for
addresses" and have the clients applications (outlook) use "my server
requires authentication". But when I do this, the clients can POP their
mail down to them...but it requests a username/password and refuses to
send mail to the server (SMTP).

If we look into the properties of outlook, the option for "my server
requires authentication" changes from using the same name as the POP
session to using a specific name/password (but the same one!).

This has been very frustrating and I must have both services on the same
machine. One KB article stated that the problem with this scenario was a
result of using an external database for the virtual host. I changed it
to an Imail database (the registry) and the problem continues.

Help? anyone?
