Woah, I was just about to say I've never seen that error and just now I got
it for the first time that I can remember. What a coincidence.

Now, this account that I couldn't connect with though is not on an IMail
server, it's a linux e-mail server. And it was using POP and not SMTP.

My error just occurred because I see that the mail server on the other end
is down, or there is a connection break in between me and them. So, you may
want to consider that as a possibility, that there is a connection break
going on, or perhaps since you can gather mail, perhaps there's a firewall
mechanism that's preventing smtp protocol (what is it? 25?) If you have
access to another mail server, you can try sending through there.
