If you actually read the receipt, it generally says that "the message has
been displayed, but is no guarantee that it has been read or understood"
Also, you aren't in a corporate environment here, or were you under the
impression that you were the only one and the rest of us are just playing at
it?
Most professionals know enough about the software to know how to turn of
requesting receipts.
Most professionals I know place no faith whatsoever in the value of
receipts, apart from demonstrating that the message was delivered (the
addressee is in receipt of it, no less), to use it a method of ensuring the
message has been both read *and* understood is the height of luserishness.
