Because we were spammed in the past, we have our security set to only relay local
hosts. The authentication for each domain is iMail database.
I would like to include a set domain which can also relay mail, which is NOT managed
by iMail. It is actually another application (ColdFusion) which attaches on and puts
mail to be sent on the server. The return address is the email address including the
domain of the user, which is managed by their mail server. So iMail refuses to send
out the mail.
I have found that if I add the domain as a host, it will allow the mail to go through,
however, I cannot send mail to anyone in that domain, because iMail sees it as a local
host and will not forward the mail to the real mail server for that domain!!!
I have tried under management to add IPs. The setting of relay only local hosts, with
the edit local hosts, and adding the ip of the application that connects to the iMail
server, and then starting and stopping the service. I thought iMail would allow all
emails generated from this one IP address added to the table would be allowed through.
WRONG.
I thought about having an external database, but it still needs to be attached to a
host, and I still wind up not being able to send to the domain listed on the host.
Is this explanation clear enough, and can what I want done be accomplished?
