Ok when switching from the Metainfo DNS to the win2k DNS then you have to take those
domain.db files and put them into the %Systemroot%\system32\dns folder then when you
create the zone it will ask you what zone file you want to use then you will tell it
that domain.db file you put in there. You will fine that it will complain about an
error when it gets to the $TTL directive but that is it and will work just fine.

As was pointed out, you have a serviceable DNS in W2K (it doesn't
need AD). Why not give that a shot? It's apparently got some
incompatibilities in it, but it's not too shabby considering the supplier.

The zone files you had under metainfo (and I suppose Simple) are RFC
compatible and W2K DNS can read them. Somebody else here will have
to tell you where to put the zone files in W2K so W2K DNS can find
them. I'd say system32\dns\etc but that's guessing.

If that doesn't work out, then run BIND 8.2.3 T6B "4a" from my site.

btw, if you're going to planning to have very busy caching BIND on a
very busy Imail server, I'd recommend against it. Better to have two
boxes now rather than have to split them later. Moving either Imail
or DNS to a new box is a hassle to be avoided.
