Well, I had a few minutes to kill tonight, so I did some investigation. 
Searching through all the various IMail program files, the only one to 
contain "listserv" and "listsrv" is ImailSec.dll. I went in with a hex 
editor and changed every instance of "listserv" and "listsrv" to "xyzzserv" 
and "xyzzsrv". This should force IMail to allow the use of both addresses 
for those who wish to do so.

Anyone caring to give it a try, I put the modified DLL on my server:
