Seriously folks, it been fun working with mostly NT types getting the
first *nix going. I chose the postfix (rather than sendmail) mailer
since it's very easy to config vs sendmail. It seems to have been
the right choice.
Everybody says my FreeBSD install instructions on the web site are
easy to follow and work.
I give the config files away for the asking.
Operating the box does not in any way require you to be $nix sysadmin
level. Just a couple of text files to edit to add/remove domains to the box.
The mail log summarizer is a fantastic way to see what's going on in
great detail, as frequently as you want, or set up to mail you the
day's report overnight.
Try it, you'll like it. Everybody else has. Then you'll find
yourself building DNS's, and list servers, and web servers, and all
kinds of free goodies.
The IMgate mailing list is approaching 100 members, but I'm sure
that's a long way from the number of IMGate installs, just like the
4000 members of this list don't represent the entire Imail installed base.
If you're really pressed for time and just want to get your first one
going (many IMgators have set up two for primary/secondary MX), I can
set it up over telnet after you get the FreeBSD (or Linux) running.
