If you don't like McAfee, there are several other antivirus programs that work fine
with Declude. But, most of our customers are using McAfee without any problems. Note
that Declude uses the *command line* scanner, not the "on access" scanner. The
command line scanner isn't run as a service, which minimizes the potential for
problems.

And, if the DAT is buggy, it's going to cause problems for the SMTP version as well.

Are you aware of the problem that we discovered with McAfee's WebShield SMTP where you
can send it an E-mail from a valid (but unusual) E-mail address, and it will cause
WebShield SMTP to slow down to a crawl and crash after a day or so?

That's because McAfee is an expert at virus detection, but not an expert at mail
servers. Ipswitch is an expert at mail servers. We harness the expertise of both
companies to provide what we believe is a very solid product.

Actually, I think you have that backwards. IMail-McAfee is a 2-unit chain as far as
SMTP goes (mail comes into the McAfee mail server, and gets sent to IMail), whereas
with Declude, mail just comes in to the IMail server.

In the case of IMail-McAfee, you are running 2 different mail servers and 1 virus
scanning program. With IMail-Declude, you are running 1 mail server, 1 virus scanner,
and 1 "glue" program that puts the pieces together.
