The ability to telnet to port 25 is a necessity. If you cannot telnet to port 25, no one can deliver mail to you. If you cannot telnet to port 110, no one can POP mail from your server (it's OK to block that one at the firewall if you don't want anyone reading their mail from the Internet). If you can't telnet to port 143, you cannot use IMAP. -Sal -----Original Message----- From: Len Conrad [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 4:01 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] telnet port 25 security question >Is the ability to successfully telnet to port 25 a security issue? no Len Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
