I doubt that is the problem.  You might have problems sending mail to a few mail 
servers, but most don't check the reverse DNS.

Since you can connect via POP3, but not SMTP, I'm guessing that your ISP blocks access 
to port 25.  Try running telnet, and seeing if you can connect to the mail server at 
port 110 (POP3), and then see if you can connect at port 25 (SMTP).  If you can 
connect to port 110, but not port 25, then your ISP likely doesn't offer full Internet 
access (either that or IMail isn't responding to port 25).
