no news there. iwebmsg has difficulties on some boxes.
pop service, however, ime, is very reliable, as is SMTP.
So it sounds like something isn't quite right on your box, but I
haven't a clue how to determine what.

I bet your avg through working hours is under 10% CPU load. Heavy
iwebmsg'ing will up that a lot.

4 iwebmsg sessions is not many compared to the 500 or so I think
Imail can support out of the box.

I don't follow you. Imail either delivers all mail to the remote
server addressed in the message headers or it can be set to send all
its outgoing through a gateway. It doesn't matter if the outgoing
mail originates in SMTP or iwebmsg. I recommend having Imail send
through through your sendmail gateway. Sendmail then would relay
Imail's outgoing.

yes, that's what we do with IMGate.

You could use the sendmail box as the MX for Imail, and relay the
incoming to Imail. In IMGate, we have postfix do this after doing all
kinds of mail abuse defenses.
