Have you sent a bunch of E-mails through web messaging with large attachments?  If so, 
the sent.mbx file could be huge, and IMail could be timing out while using it.

Something is clearly wrong.  What I would do if I were you is try renaming 
\IMail\users\username\sent.* to sentbak.*.  That way, you can access the sent messages 
via web messaging if you need to (in the "sentbak" folder), and new messages that you 
send will be stored in a brand-new sent.mbx file that will be created the next time 
you send an E-mail.
