I have been lurking on this list for some time and today I have a problem I need help
with. As I know there are experts in IMAIL out there, I do not claim to be one. Be
easy on me if this one is a no brainer.

The Problem:
A problem with sporatic local mail delivery was brought to my attention today and I
can't seem to find the common thread. Here is the scenario:

Client complains that mail they sent to a local user did not get delivered. My first
answer to them was user error. However I think something is screwy.

My definition of local user is [EMAIL PROTECTED] sends mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also,
many messages sent from outside domains do not get through to the local user. However,
this does not happen all of the time. I tested this with POP3 and web messaging from
inside the domain and sure enough some go through and some do not. I noticed in the
log file that a typical entry will look like this for a delivered message.

SMTP (347) ldeliver domain.com user1-main (1)

A message that does not come through looks like the line below.

SMTP (347) ldeliver domain.com user1- (1)

For some reason it has dropped off the mailbox to deliver to.??????? Notice the main
is gone in the second line. This problem may or may not be related to attachment, but
my test involved attachments.

The declude log information shows the attachment passed virus free.

Other information:

IMAIL 6.05 without the latest patch
NT4.0
SP6A
Running Declude 1.14 w/f-prot

Final general question................

Should there always be a mailbox after the user1-?

Thanks in advance.

JP
