In Illinois we have an antispam law that is made specifically to
protect ISPs and private servers. You may be fined 5 cents per mail
on up to $30,000 per day depending on the level of abuse. I am aware
that InterAccess, an ISP near me, did successfully litigate a user
for $30,000, so this is happening here. There are about 8 million in
the Chicago area alone, so it is nice to see action in such a large
region.
