Patrick,
What you describe, is not 'normal' IMail behavior (assuming no alias or List
Server, of the same name), so there must be 'something else' redirecting the
email. Do you have a 'nobody' alias? Have you looked at a header of one of
these 'mis-directed' emails? I'm sure there is some clue there! That will
also give you specific times to use when checking the logs. If you have the
'Refuse Null Sender' enabled in IMail's SMTP Security, please disable that
and stop/start the SMTP service. That setting can keep you from getting
'postmaster' messages, which are clues to problems and maybe the missing
data you need to discover the 'problem'.
Are there any 'rules' in IMail, on the host, domain or user(s) in question?
They can send email places you might not expect (at first!).
Look within you message for other suggestions.

Is that other email server completely disabled or removed? If it is getting
into the picture, then you need to look there for any forwarding, aliases or
rules, that might be affecting these messages or accounts.

So you really do 'know' that IMail works!

OK, no forwarding, but how about Rules or Info Manager on the account (see
above)? Did you check to see if the users folder was also removed, when you
deleted the account? It should have been. If not, it could contain
forwarding info (I know, you checked) or other files. Delete the account,
then make sure folder is also gone, before recreating the same user.

You mean only 'Postmaster' and maybe 'root' and 'imailsrv'? 'Nobody' is not
a default alias!

Well, I guess once you get one problem figured out, you will tell us more?
