Actually the HOSTS file should contain the first 2 lines and I offered the
next line as an 'addition'. But what you see is not totally unexpected. In
all my years of using NT, it is only about 50% (or worse) successful in
putting your IP and hostname into the file (the entry is so your computer
does not need to go to DNS to identify itself, which it could not do if DNS
were down!).
DNS problems are rampant (ask Len!) on the 'net. It is a source of trouble
that is often overlooked! Glad to hear using your local DNS fixes the
problem and you should contact your ISP, if his does not work for you (it is
likely to be your secondary!).
