Thanks for your thoughts. However what I am trying to do is a little
different.

I want to develop a message in HTML format (bandwidth is not an issue).
Then when sending, I want either the HTML version or a Plain Text version
sent to e-mail list, based on the type of mail system they use. As I
understand from one of our local eMessaging companies, they use some type of
"Sniffer ID" to determine which version to send (HTML if it can be accepted,
otherwise simply plain text version.)

Russ,

If you are using Outlook, it is just a matter of setting up the client to
use HTML for 'sending'.

The general consensus of the members of this list is that using HTML to a
list, is not a 'good' thing.

My personal opinion is that it eats bandwidth, providing little extra
functionality. A HTML formatted email will be at least 2 times as big as
plain text, and maybe up to 10-15 times larger, when lots of html features
are included. A simple plain text email with a few sentences will be a few
hundred bytes and the same in HTML will likely be 1k or more. Now that is
not a big deal, but multiply by the number of emails through your server
each day and well, you get the picture.
