Len,

Well I'm one of those outside "hardly any unsatisfied qmail users"  ;)  Our ISP operation is based on NT4.0.  Our original Email server program was Seattle Labs SLMailNT.  That was five years ago.  It server us fairly well until Seattle Labs started "enhancing" its capabilities.  Every time they upgraded the program it became less reliable.  We decided to change to Sendmail for NT about a year & a half ago.  It ran okay with no real problems but had some quirks I didn't like.

About a year ago we brought a new tech on board who was a Unix/Linux zealot.  He worked on me for several months to bring up Qmail on a Linux box.  I finally agreed...against my better judgement, because the rest of my staff were not proficient with Linux.  As it turned out, my instinct was correct.  The zealot transferred to one of our partner companies and about that time we started having serious problems with Qmail. Although we could enlist his assistance when needed, it was not always timely.

So - I started researching what was available on the market for NT Email server programs.  Everything, in my opinion, pointed to Imail by Ipswitch.  There's the story.  Sorry to be so lengthily in my reply, but I appreciate you responding to my forum posting and figured I'd give you the whole story.

Incidentally, we have figured a work around to develop a text file to import the users into Imail.  It's a drawn out process but will do the job.

Thanks again for responding.

Hi Dale,

This is the first time I've seen Qmail mention in this list.

And I'm surprised, since so I haven't seen hardly any unsatisfied
qmail users, and when I do, they aren't migrating from qmail to
commercial, but qmail to other open source.

So I think you're not going to find any help here, but if you look in
the KB, "migrate" or "migration" you will get several articles worth reading.
