Gareth,

I'm afraid your email does not make much sense to me. IMail does not 'get'
email from another host. Other servers send it to your server. And no
'login' is required to do this. No message about a 'queue' is sent, either.
So all this makes me wonder what you are doing (or trying to do!).

If your ISP is holding email for your domain, then I suppose some of what
you said makes some sense, but again there is no 'login' needed to get it.
The ISPs server should be able to send it to your server (assuming it is
correctly configured), as long as yours is connected to the 'net. Maybe you
need to look at issuing the ETRN command to the ISPs server, so it will
start the delivery process to your server.

If you are expecting IMail to use POP3 to collect the email, that will not
work as IMail does not use this method to receive email. POP3 is a client
protocol for collecting email from a server, sending it to the client.

Your firewall needs to be configured to allow SMTP (port 25) to pass
through. This will allow other email servers to deliver messages to your
system and for it to deliver email to other SMTP servers.

Can you send email to outside sites? What is the hostname or IP of your
IMail system and/or the firewall? With that, we in the forum can attempt a
connection and deliver email to your system (if all is working and
configured properly). If not successful, then can tell you what is found and
suggest solutions.

You might want to talk to your ISP and see if you two can send and receive
email to/from each other. If you can do that, then others will likely be
able to, also.

Dear All,

I am new to this list, so just to say hi and ask a question..

I installed IMail today to our server, which is held behind a firewall. I
know the connection is passing through our firewall machine and it
connecting to our ISP's service provider.

We connect fine, and we log in too, however we get a message saying that
there is a queue, and then the connection is closed. No mail downloaded, and
no explanation.

Has anyone every come across this before?

Many thanks

Gareth Edmondson
