Hi,
I run a medium sized Exchange mail system as
"one-more-thing-the-network-admin-can-do". We have four Exchange servers
connected as a site with one, MTAPROXYIN.MTA.NET, set up as the SMTP gateway
(for the Exchange purists- it runs IMS). I turned off relaying as soon as I
got that far into the handbook, but now it seems I need to reenable it to
use Imail as a list server for Media Relations. Our DNS records are handled
by the upstream ISP on the other side of the T-1. My understanding is that
mail from the list server may be rejected by many systems if I relay through
the proxy server. Will proper DNS records on our ISP's server take care of
the problem, or must I expose this server to the world?
Thanks in advance. This community is one of the main reasons I've recommeded
Imail.
