I don't know of any problems with POP3 and passwords! Maybe you need to
provide a bit more info. The hostname/IP address, the account name and
password, are enough to test it remotely.
The last time someone had a problem like this, he had multiple domains in
IMail and was connecting to the wrong one. So was issuing the 'wrong'
password for the 'same named user' in the other domain.
If a virtual domain, the user is not 'user', but 'user@virtualdomain'.
