Thats not exactly what i meant. If i set up the mail server via pop3
i keep getting the message Userid/Password it will not authenticate i've
tried everything thats why i'm thinking it something in my imail
settings. I locked down my server where it doesn't relay for anyone and
now netscape users can't send mail via SMTP it fails everytime

Brad,
You have to tell Messenger which one you want to use. Depending upon
the version of Messenger, go to the following:
Edit
Preferences
Mail&Newsgroups
Mail Servers
Incoming Mail Servers - Edit
General - Server Type
select either POP3 or IMAP
I suspect that it is currently set to IMAP.
