MS are starting to pull their neck in now over thie issue, large
manufacturers now are ignoring the "BILL DIRECTIVE" I recently bought two
dell 2450's and could have purchased them with either no OS, linux or an MS
OS. I am not sure how long this back down has been in place or whether it is
just the big companies testing the water. MS are trying a different tack now
by changing licensing interpretation.

If you buy a desktop with an MS OS before win2k, and rebuild the machine
from an automated method such as ghost or driveimage pro or an automated
install over a network because you arent using the EXACT cab files that came
on that exact PC you incurr another license.

Also many PCs now come with a finger printed CD that will only install on
that make and model of PC.
