That's just not possible.  <G>

No.  I can only see three possible explanations (although there could be 
more):  [1] The E-mails really came from his E-mail client, not the server, 
or [2] The messages were never being deleted from IMail, or [3] You 
reinstalled from a backup, that had the old mails on it.

Once an E-mail is deleted, it is gone.  Unless you have it forwarded to 
another account, it is gone for good on the server.  There's no way to 
retrieve it (without using undelete tools and such, but that would have to 
be done very quickly, and likely wouldn't work).

What you can do is check the IMail logs.  That will show you how many 
E-mails he downloaded.  If you see a POP3 entry "logoff for myboss R:1243 
D:0 P:0, that would mean he did indeed download 1,243 E-mails, and that 
they had been saved on the server somehow.  If you don't see any large "R:" 
numbers in the logs, then either his E-mail client went FUBAR, or someone 
is having a good time making up a tall tale.
