I have tried your test and they do indeed work.
how ever if one server goes down that kind of put a spanner in the works.

ah, "in theory ... should", haven�t you tried it?

Try checking your POP3 mailbox by connecting to the other server.

or logon to webmail on box x�s url with your mailbox on box y.

Or SMTP AUTH to X with your account on Y.
