I did have this setup but i had to move it to a seperate machine for the
following reasons

1) It is very hard to secure your server - unless you specify every IP
address that you want NAV to relay for you have to have an open relay

2) it would take a long time to send emails from your outbox (using OE) and
this cuased lots of complaints from our user base.

We only have 400 users all internal (ie behind a firewall) and with fixed IP
addresses but even so it was a nightmare to close the relay . I have now
reinstalled NAV to a seperate server but only have external emails scanned
for viruses. I am also in the process of installing Len's Imgate on a third
server thereby enabling me to reopen the NAV gateway for relay and then scan
all emails both internal and external.

the reason we use NAV ( I know that is going to be the next question given
all the greif it has given me is that a) its free as part of the enterprise
package that we use to protect our desktops and file server and b) it is a
good virus scanning engine)

I hope this helps.

Les Bevan
