My boss notified me this morning that supposedly our IMail server is somehow
the cause of an increase in spam to certain users. He claims his spam
volume has tripled and that someone who just started a new email address was
starting to receive spam after only 2 days. I tried to convince him that
this was from users carelessly putting their email addresses on the web or
such. He says that this isn't the case, however. Has anyone heard of
anything like this? My email address on the Imail server hasn't had any
spam that isn't from a source I've already identified, and this is the same
for quite a few people I have talked to.
I don't need to be reminded about Declude or any of the filters available.
I personally think we should have one, but we have no spare machines, and
defintely don't have anyone available to become even somewhat familiar with
linux or FreeBSD to undertake such a task.
I guess I'm just looking for confirmation that my "spending a couple hours
to fix the spam problem with IMail" is going to be a fruitless task.
Thanks,
Jeff Underwood

Use a password protected list. They can post with [:password:] in the
subject field. Anyone posting without the password gets an error message
back. Pages 183 and 174 of the v6 manual.
