Subject: [IMail Forum] POP3 Slowdown
New Thread. After applying the 7.02 hotfix I haven't noticed any
improvements in performance. I have about 150 users on a NT 4.0 SP6A
server (PIII 500, 512MB, 20GB) server. I never had any performance
problems with 6.06. I've been monitoring the server's utilization using
the NT Task Manager. Whenever somebody checks their e-mail from an
Outlook 98 client the CPU utilization (Pop3d32.exe) goes to 80 percent
or so for a very short time. If a message is received the outlook
splash screen doesn't go away for about 10 seconds. I've seen others
complaining about similar problems, and I wonder if this is consistent
with you are seeing (CPU utilization). I'm just trying to get more info.
to hopefully find a solution. I hope that I don't have to wipe the box
clean and reinstall.
