Hi We were recently attacked by the SirCam pest. I spent around 18 hours scanning and cleaning my LAN computers. Editing the registry to remove the open with sircam entry and deleting files. Searching all Exchange boxes to remove sent copies and restoring from backups the files that could not be repaired. The cost in overtime will be �3000.00 plus. I then installed Declude and F-Prot. It cost me �500.00 and 20 minutes to set up. I am not saying this is the only solution on the market or that it is the best solution on the market. What I am saying is that compared to cleaning up the problem the cost of preventing it was nothing by comparison. I would like to thank everyone who expressed an opinion when I asked the list about virus protection. Thank you all for your help. Also I feel it would be nice if Ipswitch put together some information on virus protection for the Imail Server that could be given to new users. Even if it was just a list of compatable products. A starting point is a great help when trying to fix a problem.
