Imail is limited by its disk space.

The Exchange should've just sent Internet emails from its queue to the
I-mail.

Is I-mail more CPU or Memory intenstive ?

yes :)))

up to the size of the disk.

In practice, no OS file system is very happy or fast with a single
directory of 5000 files or 50000.

postfix used in IMGate creates a hashed directory tree and spread the
queued messages all over the directory tree, to keep any one directory from
having too many files
