I got the same thing when I tried to upgrade from the earlier version.  I
think that the new version of Imail doesn't work correctly with some of the
old files.  There are directions with the products to perform the upgrade,
you might want to scan through those.  Also, make sure you re-download the
KWM templates/patches to make sure you have the newest version.

What I did to resolve the issue is...

Backup everything first (of course), then delete the web directory, or
rename it or something.

Install or reinstall imail to create a clean web directory.

Install kwm to the default folder in the imail dir (not web, I think it's
killerwebmail)

Install all of the patches for both apps, make sure you extreact the KWM
templates into the kwm dir, not the imail\web dir.

Copy the kwm folder to kwm.old or something (for back up)

rename the web folder to web.old

rename the kwm folder to web.

then go through the upgrade and customization instructions.

That resolved it for me.
