We have been mulling the idea of whether we should make this a subscription
service or not. Many months have gone into this database, and it grows each
and every day. Our statistics are posted on the homepage when the database
is updated. We do have a large subscriber base already, and many have
expressed interest even if we offer this service on a paid subscription
basis.
Postfixgate is not for just anyone.

We had a round table discussion today, since we work 7 days a week, and
decided based on feedback we would no longer offer the Postfixgate database
FREE. Postfixgate subscriptions are now $120 per year. We don't want
anyone to get the wrong impression. Postfixgate is a strong anti-spam
database, and is not for those who are not serious about fighting Spam. We
head off Spam campaigns daily, and add those results to the database.
There are other alternatives such as MAPS, ORDB.org, and ORBL.org. The
difference between Postfixgate, and these other services, is that
Postfixgate manages about 29,000 plus domain names. A ton of Spam flows
into our network daily. Postfixgate does not take Spam nominations, and we
don't test for open relays. Postfixgate only adds IP addresses, and bogus
and real domains and e-mail addresses, to our database from Spam we receive,
not what is reported to us by others. If a company wants out, we check our
record of the junk mail, and if it looks to be a mistake we remove it, but
if not we have the evidence to support our position. The other major
difference is you get a local copy which you can add or remove entries from.
The database may not apply in its distributed format to everyone's
situation, so you can modify it as needed.
Postfixgate now offers, again after today's discussion, automated FTP daily
download and installation of the Postfixgate database which is restricted to
the IP of your e-mail server. Postfixgate now provides the scripts you need
to automate the download and installation of the database, which will be
customized based on your request. Postfixgate has other management tools
soon to be released as well, and free contributed scripts and applications
available in the member's area available via our website. BTW our site was
altered a bit today based on recent criticism of the site to make it easier
on the eyes. We listen and respond to visitors and Postfixgate members.
