This might seem trivial but have you tried PINGing subdomain.domainname.com?
If you don't get a reply, this would rule out IMail as being involved in
your problem, i.e. subdomain.domainname.com is not reachable.

are used its being stucked in the Queue of imail and after (30 mins or
something) u get it back from the postmaster.
