Robert,

I'm not familiar with ISPPower but if you go to http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/helperapps.html there are many utilities (adddomain, adduser, etc) that should allow you to cobble together an automated solution to create all your domains, users, aliases, etc.  Hope this helps.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Setting Up Imail 7.03 using external database

I start trying to configure Imail 7 tomorrow and wanted to see if there was any advice before I start.

We currently run NTMail but purchased a company that was running IMail and liked how it handles the virtual domains (MUCH easier than NTMail) so we're bringing up a test bed.

We run ISPPower 5.3 and are going to configure it to write to a separate dbase used for Vircom Radius and IMail.

With each, I have to be able to distinguish from different domains so that we can run only one system, but not cause any of our customers grief by having to change usernames and email addresses.  (Think I've got that one licked by changing all usernames to [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], etc...).

My big question is am I going to run into any problems handling 100+ virtual domains like this?  Is this what IMail wants or needs?

Can IMail read off of a field labeled "Domain" and keep the logins separate if we don't add the domain in with the username?

Even if I get it to do this correctly, will it still require me to manually setup each virtual domain or can it pick them up off of a table?

We're looking to automate this process as much as possible to not require a lot of setup.  I'd like to be able to make all of my changes in ISPPower and then have IMail pick them up off the table.

I've read through the notes at ipswitch on configuring it for ISPPower and that seems straightforward and easy, until you start talking virtual domains which don't appear to be supported by those procedures.

Looking for advice...  If you had a fresh slate to set it up on, what would you do?
