Product: IMail Server 7
OS: Windows NT Server 4.0
Problem:

I am attempting to view LDAP information from the client machine and have
been unable to accomplish this. Below are the steps I went thought for
setup. I am using OutLook [Internet Only} on workstations.

First I followed KB article IM-19990730-DM02 and confirmed workstation was
using IE5 for the outlook express address book. I also found the attr file
in the IMAIL root directory and added "ref=display-name" below
"ref=CommonName" in the file.

Next I used KB IM-20010411-DM01 to compare the contents of attr.ini and
found my above mentioned ref and the attribute "UserId" to be the only
difference. I have both the ref edit and the UserId in my attr file which
was not in the example in the KB.

I then went to the users under the domain I'm testing and under "General
User Changes" I checked "Provide user info with finger" and clicked "change
all accounts".

I set up a Directory service in outlook for the domain as outlook help and
your user guide suggest. I leave all defaults and have nothing forced to
private, public or requiring password.

I then start and stop the LDAP and Finger services.

When I open my client and attempt to send an email to a member of the
domain I do not have a listing for them in the "to" field. Once I click on
the "to" button. I try to search for other members of that domain which
have email accounts under the domain but none are visible.

We are purchasing this product next week through Katelyn and need to have
this functioning before the powers to be will purchase. Any immediate help
would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael Douglas
