The only change that the registries could potentially cause a problem with 
is if you change the DNS servers that are authoritative for your 
domain.  If they don't get the updated information to the root servers, 
then the world will not know about your DNS server change.  But, even if 
you change DNS servers, your old DNS servers should handle the requests 
until the update is made, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Any other DNS changes (changing the IP address of your web server, or 
changing mail servers for example) do not involve the registries (by 
registries I'm referring to Network Solutions and the other registries that 
handle registering the domains).
