I'll second this vote. I think MS DNS gets a bad rap because a lot of people set it up without understanding DNS. It's so easy, and comes with Winnt, that many admin throw it up without realizing what they're getting into. I was in that category, but once I understood DNS a little better (still not an expert, though!), it has worked reliably since.
