The problem is that clustering is very complex, and typically beyond the 
scope of a program like IMail.

In order for clustering to work, you have to have two or more servers 
connecting to the same information at a very high speed (a typical network 
share is way too slow for mail retrieval).  You also need a way to make 
sure that one server is on "backup" and not touching the hard drive until 
it is given the command to start.  And what happens if the primary mail 
server is up and running, but can't communicate to the backup that it is 
still up, so the backup thinks it is active?

You could have the data stored in two different locations (which would be 
required for a truly redundant situation, where the backup server(s) were 
in a different geographical location), but that would require some sort of 
a two-way mirroring system (the backup getting a mirror of the primary, but 
the primary getting a mirror of the backup when it turns into the primary).

There are lots of tricky issues regarding clustering.  It is not trivial.
