I wrote two batch files that 1) Download the latest Antivirus profile from F-Prot and 2) Scan the server HDD for viruses and write a report to a web visible text file.
I have them automatically run each night. No, I don't get "real-time" protection, but I know that my server is scanned nightly at no cost to my processor's overhead. I would be happy to provide my simple batch files to the list here if people are interested. They were written for the freeware version of F-Prot and would have to be adjusted for your file locations. A question.. We have Declude AV running with F-Prot... wondering if it protects the file system as well as the mail... does not look like it... should we have another AV running to protect server? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Alumbaugh" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, November 26, 2001 9:46 PM Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Declude Catch BadTrans Virus? > We started picking up a lot of these viruses with declude and f-prot > today.. so I can attest to the fact that it is getting them... all > trying to come into the system so it is looking like our people were > pretty well protected. > > Roger > ACE-Internet > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Dale Chavez > Sent: Monday, November 26, 2001 7:08 AM > To: Imail Forum > Subject: [IMail Forum] Declude Catch BadTrans Virus? > > Just received this new virus warning this morning and was wondering if > Declude will indeed catch and quarantine this new one? > > Thanks, > Dale > > > > Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html > to be removed from this list. > > An Archive of this list is available at: > http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ > Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
