I have not moved to v7.x yet but you should NEVER do an init unless it's beyond repair.

In my version if you do an INIT, you lose all entered attributes except for cn, gn and 
sn values.
It may be that to get it to display you do an optimize LDAP but not an init.

Sometimes in 6.06, you'll get multiple records back for a new user if you added 
attributes and have not done an optimize since at that point there are multiple 
records in the file. The optimize ldap (from the domain tab) will straighten that out.

If you will be using LDAP, make sure and spend some time understanding as it can be 
flaky and treat the Person.dta file in the LDAP directory as gold since if it gets 
damaged, you lose your settings...
